Jennie James (1973-2025)
Jennie Anneliese James, 52, of North Garden, Virginia, passed away on November 6, 2025.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, to Eugene and Kornelia McGoldrick, Jennie grew up surrounded by family and a love of life's simple joys. She graduated from Cupertino High School before proudly serving in the United States Air Force, where she carried with her discipline, resilience, and a spirit of service. After her honorable discharge, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
Her professional life reflected her intensity and dedication. Jennie served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Board at the Law School Foundation, where her leadership left a lasting mark. She also gave generously of her time, volunteering as Treasurer for Speaking of Horses, an organization close to her heart.
Jennie's life was rich with passions and traditions that brought joy to those around her. She loved to make occasions special - baking her signature cakes, for family events, preparing food and drink, and decorating so that everyone felt cherished. In her teen years, she excelled in track and horseback riding, always striving to compete and achieve her best. She treasured her family deeply: jogging with her dad during her ROTC days, sharing shopping trips with her mom, and holding a lifelong bond with her older sister. When she became a mother herself, she poured that same joy and devotion into her children, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and celebration. She loved arranging family vacations for her children to experience new places and adventures.
She also delighted in road trips with her beloved dog, Remington, live music, bird watching, and her spirited fascination with dinosaurs. Jennie's generosity of spirit was evident in everything she did—she gave her heart, her time, and her love freely to those she cared for.
Jennie is survived by her parents, Eugene and Kornelia; her sister, Janis; her husband, Dean; her children, Jessica (William), Emma, Jacob, and Nathan; and her granddaughter, Lily, who brought her endless joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025, at Old Metropolitan Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Speaking of Horses, honoring Jennie's commitment to service and community.
Though she is gone, her kindness and laughter remain woven into the lives of all who knew her.
