Jennifer Lynn Claghorn, age 49, passed away peacefully the evening of October 30, 2025, at her home in Lake Tapps, Washington. She was strong and fought bravely against a rare and aggressive form of Leukemia.
Jennifer was born April 6, 1976, in Red Bank, New Jersey to Charles and Holly Claghorn and grew up on the banks of Tybee Island near Savannah, Georgia. She attended Auburn University and received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Master of Science in Environmental Engineering. She worked as an Environmental Engineer for Jacobs with a specialty in environmental permitting and air quality compliance.
Jennifer loved her dogs, loved riding horses, warming up in a jacuzzi or hot springs, and being on vacation at warm tropical beaches. She loved spending time outdoors and seeing nature whether that be on a beach, rocky coastline, forest or a mountain top. She said that Second Beach near Forks Washington, Yosemite National Park, and Corn Island, Nicaragua were some of the most beautiful places she had ever seen. She had a taste for adventure and enjoyed the experiences of biking, paddle boarding, whitewater rafting, and kayaking. She loved seeing penguins and giraffes. She was always trying to cook new recipes and was working on her green thumb with the potting of various flowers and herbs. She enjoyed art festivals and markets, haunted houses and scary movies. Her home was decorated with paintings of vivid color and numerous artifacts from various locations. She loved her home, and it’s view of the sunsets and 4th of July fireworks. Her one true passion was reading books and had one with her everywhere she went.
Jennifer wrote a blog showcasing her creative writing talent and her humorous, hopeful and disconcerting experiences with Leukemia. That blog can be accessed via: Jennifer Claghorn | Substack (https://uncutjen.substack.com)
