Jesse S. Morris III

Jesse Stephen Morris, III, age 82, of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 15, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 6, 1943, to the late Rev. Jesse Stephen Morris II and Ida Bufkin, Jesse was a proud Gary native devoted to service, learning, and community. A Roosevelt High School graduate (Class of '62), he later earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and a Master's Certificate in Public Management.
Jesse's career included work with Purdue's Upward Bound Program, Child Protective Services, the Gary School Board, and the City of Gary Courts. A man of faith, he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his devoted wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family.
