In Loving Memory of Jim Daniel Morrison
August 29, 1942 - October 16, 2025
Jimmy "Jim" Daniel Morrison, age 83, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at Autumn Wind Assisted Living in Mineola, Texas. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and gentle soul, Jim's life was a testament to enduring love, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Born in DeKalb, Texas, on August 29, 1942, to Lester and Alma Morrison, Jim overcame a difficult childhood with determination and resilience. As a teenager, he moved to Weatherford, Texas, on his own, where he supported himself by working at the local pharmacy as a soda jerk. He graduated from Weatherford High School, seventh in his class out of 134 and received "Most Deserving Student" award at graduation. He was both a title-winning Golden Gloves boxer and a cheerleader, already showing the grit and spirit that would define his life.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Ambassador College in Pasadena, California, in 1968—where he also met the love of his life and eternal soulmate, Judy. They married in 1967, and from that moment on, their hearts were forever entwined. Together, through challenges, they forged a life and family grounded in love.
After living in California, Maryland, and all over Texas, Jim and Judy settled in Allen in 1979, where Jim began his 20-year career at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where his perseverance, sharp mind, and ability to communicate effectively propelled him to advancing roles. While working full-time and raising a family, Jim earned his Master of Business Administration from The University of Houston at Clear Lake City, a reflection of his commitment to growth, which continued through his final days.
After a dedicated career, Jim retired at 59, beginning a new chapter with Judy as they traveled the country together for the next twenty years, exploring the beauty of nature side by side. Following Judy's passing, Jim moved to Lake Holbrook in beautiful East Texas, living between his son and daughter, where he was lovingly cared for by his family. He reconnected with God and spirit, finding peace while battling debilitating chronic pain. In June 2025, Jim moved to Autumn Wind Assisted Living, and by October, he entered hospice, passing 10 days later surrounded by family and love.
Jim delighted in the simple joys of life, especially the beauty and wonders of nature, including birds, butterflies, flowers, waterfalls, sunrises and sunsets. He also loved traveling, camping, fishing, and country western dancing. He had a special place in his heart for music, especially the melodies that made his spirit soar. But above all, Jim's greatest joy and pride was his family. He adored his three children and seven grandchildren, attending the birth of each and celebrating every milestone with heartfelt pride.
Jim and Judy's love for one another was unwavering. Their character and relationship were a golden thread that wove a fabric of gratitude, kindness, and success, leaving a legacy of love, strength, and unity that will endure for generations.
To those who knew him, Jim will always be remembered for his gentle but strong spirit, quiet wisdom, warm smile, and boundless love—often bringing tears of joy to his eyes. He embraced everyone he met with genuine warmth and wasn't shy about expressing his love, inspiring love in return. His kindness and joy touched everyone around him, leaving an imprint even after the briefest encounter. His legacy lives in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him, but especially his children and grandchildren, who have seen in him the true meaning of unconditional love and generosity.
He was, and always will be, deeply loved and forever in our hearts.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Morrison Dean of Allen, Texas; his daughter, Alysa Morrison Mise of Lucas, Texas; and his son, Derek Anthony Morrison of Mineola, Texas. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ben and Joe Morrison, and his seven beloved grandchildren: Morrison Hall Dean, Wilson Hannah Dean, Harlin Ray Dean III, Haley Brianne Mise, Hannah Elizabeth Mise, Luke Anthony Morrison, and Olivia Lynn Morrison.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lynn Morrison; his mother, Alma Evans Morrison; his father, Lester Morrison; his sister, Peggy McGregor; and his brothers, Dick and Larry Morrison.
Jim will be cremated and laid to rest beside his beloved wife of 55 years, Judy Lynn Morrison, who preceded him in death in November 2022. A family graveside service will be held at the historic Allen Cemetery, followed by a reception open to all wishing to pay their respects. Details to follow.
