JoAnne Bersohn died peacefully in Toronto on October 15, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born in Cornwall, Ontario, JoAnne was a person of remarkable optimism and determination—qualities that sustained her throughout her long life. She dedicated her professional career to helping others as a social worker and carried that same generosity and care into her personal relationships. She was a loving and warm mother, taking pride in raising her daughter to be independent.
JoAnne was a devoted wife to her husband, Malcolm; they were deeply connected through their shared passion for improving the world. She had an ever-present sense of humor and a deep affection for animals, especially dogs.
Living for decades with chronic arthritis, JoAnne was grateful to have the option of MAiD, which allowed her to leave life on her own terms.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Diana, and by all who knew her.
