Rev. Jody V. Tallent, 58, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away on November 7, 2025. Born on May 24, 1967, in Pulaski, Tennessee, Jody lived a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Jody dedicated many years of his life to the open road as a truck driver, working for Pack’s Ltd. and Bob’s Moraine Trucking. His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were evident in every mile he traveled.

Beyond his professional life, Jody was an ordained minister and pastor who devoted himself to sharing God’s unconditional love and mercy. He served in several Gospel singing groups alongside his beloved wife Mary Jo and others, using music as a powerful tool to uplift hearts and spread the message of hope. His passion for music extended beyond performance—he found great joy in singing and playing his many guitars.

Jody's ministry extended far beyond the pulpit. He founded The Mission of Hope Day Shelter, a place where those less fortunate could find nourishment and kindness. Serving breakfast and lunch daily, the shelter stood as a testament to Jody’s deep compassion and desire to serve others with dignity and grace.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Jo Tallent; daughter Heather Tallent (Ray Highfill); son Jonathan Tallent; step-sons Paul Clouse, Bryan Woodford, Brandon Brewer, Ronny Brewer, and Joshua Brewer; grandson Colton Tallent; granddaughter Madysin Mason; brother Larry (Aleshia) Tallent Jr.; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Jody was preceded in death by his parents Larry Tallent Sr. and Bonnie Prentice Tallent; and his brother Robbie Tallent.

A man of kindness and generosity, Jody lived out the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” His legacy will live on through the lives he impacted with his music, ministry, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM at The Block Church 434 N. Ninth St.
