John Edward "Zip" Wallop, 79, was preceded in death, by parents, Navy Rowley and Virginia Blake, passed away on September 13, 2025, in Pocomoke, Maryland. Born on July 2, 1946, in Stockton, Maryland, John lived a life defined by determination, grit, and an unwavering commitment to the open road.
From the moment he began his professional journey in 1963, John immersed himself in the world of trucking—a calling that became not just his career but his identity. As the founder and CEO of Wallop Transportation, he built more than a business; he forged a legacy. For John, trucking was "a God-given talent." He could recite mileages between states with precision and navigated the highways of America with unmatched expertise. His presence on the road was as commanding as it was dependable—city to city, coast to coast.
John was known for being a straight shooter. He spoke his mind without hesitation and stood firm in his convictions, and was true to his word. He took no disrespect from anyone and had no qualms about cutting ties when necessary, and wasn't about "The bull" Yet beneath that tough exterior was a man who deeply loved his family and cherished reminiscing about the "good old days." His sayings—"Getter done" and "The beat goes on"—captured both his work ethic and his enduring spirit.
His sense of humor was infectious. John's laughter had a way of lighting up any room—or truck stop—and brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him. His big personality left an indelible mark wherever he went.
John is survived by six children: Johnnette Wallop, Jozette Wallop, Anjanette Wallop, John Elliott, John Wallop Jr., Crystal Wallop; 10 amazing Grandchildren, 7 joyful Great- Grandchildren; He is survived by siblings: Lanette Smith, Margaret Rowley, Sharon Mills; preceded by 3 beloved siblings, and several loving cousins.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and may the beat go on in every mile traveled in his honor.
