John Walter Wulff

John W. Wulff, a resident of Salisbury Maryland since 1972, passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake on Monday, October 20, 2025. John was known as "Jack" by his friends and colleagues and as Dr. Wulff by his students in the Education Department at Salisbury University. He was born in Long Island NY to John C. and Helen Olson Wulff and had two sisters, Annette and Amelia ("Mimi").
Dr Wulff was a 1953 graduate of New Paltz Teachers College where he also captained the basketball and baseball teams. He received his Ed.D at Teacher's College Columbia NY in 1969. He was a career educator starting as an Elementary School teacher and administrator in NY, a college professor at Florida Atlantic University, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for Montgomery County MD and most recently, a professor for 42 years in the Department of Education at Salisbury University. He and his family moved to Salisbury in 1972, where he joined the faculty at what was then Salisbury State College. As well as teaching undergraduate classes, Dr Wulff developed a Master's Program in Reading Instruction, with a focus on learning and reading disabilities. He taught numerous workshops in many Eastern Shore county schools as well as summer sessions in Reading Comprehension at Loyola College of Maryland.
Dr Wulff 's teaching and learning were not confined to the classroom. He was a long-time teacher and student of the game of golf and was a 50-year member of the Salisbury Elks Golf Club. Known as "Doc" by his fellow Elks golfers, you could often find him on the course on a late summer afternoon, practicing or teaching chipping and putting techniques to his children with whom he shared his love of the game.
Jack Wulff was accompanied in life by his wife of 55 years, Beth Kurtzman Wulff, a school nurse at Chipman Elementary and West Salisbury Elementary. They partnered to lovingly raise 5 children, Lianne Groshel (Chris), Brad Wulff (Pam Beauchamp), Kurt Wulff, Mary Beth Slone (Curtis) and Scott Wulff (Lisa Girod). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren- John, Chase and Abigale Wulff: Sara Beth and Austin Wulff: Ryan, Christian and Luke Wulff and 2 great grandchildren Wilder and Shepherd Wulff.
Jack Wulff chose to continue his legacy of learning by donating his body to the Maryland State Board of Anatomy.
