Joseph Lee Burriss, was born on February 11, 1997, in Howard County, MD. His spirit went to his eternal home with God on November 13, 2025. The disease of addiction ended his life way too soon. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph Howard Burriss, Jr and survived by his mother, Anne Theresa Bastress Burriss, his older brother George Buettner, III and many family members who share his joyful spirit.

JoJo, as he was known by his friends was a shining light in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey was one marked by love, dreams for the future and a belief in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. I ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Joey found joy in his recovery, music, relationships, driving, watching movies, dominos, cooking, and many friends. He truly touched the hearts of many. Those who knew Joe will remember him for his infectious smile, his laughter, belief in recovery and God. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on those who crossed his path.

A Memorial Service to honor Joseph Lee Burriss will be held on November 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5422 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore 21229. I request prayers for all who suffer from the painful and deadly disease of addiction and the continued life of all who live a joyous life in recovery.

Although Joe's physical presence no longer blesses our lives, may his spirit inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and we carry his desire to live life recovering from addiction, and a new life of love and compassion in all that we do. As we continue to grow in love and learn, Joey's light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

Joe will be interred at 11:45 after the Service at St. John's Cemetery, 3480 St Johns Lane, Ellicott City 21042.
