Joseph S. Cuttitta, LCDR USN RET, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on September 4, 2025 at the age of 91.

Joseph was born to Felice and Concetta Cuttitta on December 18, 1933 in Richmond, New York. He was an identical twin to John Ronald Cuttitta and younger brother to Salvatore Cuttitta and Marie McCann.

He was an accomplished swimmer in high school and spent summers as a lifeguard. Joseph and his twin brother John sang together and performed skits in local clubs. He enlisted in the United States Navy on June 27, 1952. After completing four years active duty in the Navy he transitioned to the reserves and concurrently attended Seton Hall University to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He went on to complete a 26 year naval career as a Naval Aviation Officer.

Joseph retired from the Navy in 1978. He settled in San Diego and became a real estate agent/broker. He opened and established American Dream Realty. Joe, as he was known, was well visited during the caravan days for having unique "open houses" that included "Joe's Italian Special" complete with meatballs, cheese boards and wine!

Joe was an avid outdoorsman and marksman. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, snow skiing, hunting. He would take on any fix it task and get it up and running. He restored cars and boats and engines and was completely self taught with impeccable attention to detail.

Of all things, Joe was most proud of his family and his Catholic faith. He was a true family man and devoted single father. He was a mentor and friend to all. He was loved by countless Clairemont kids as "Mr. C." and always willing to lend a hand, a tool, or words of encouragement and advice.

Joe is survived by his five children, Caroline Thietje, Joseph Jr. and Lauren Cuttitta, Diana and Alan Barsoom, Mary and James Touhey and Matthew Cuttitta. Grandchildren, Isabella, Taylor, Sophia, Savannah, Ally, Ava, Jack, Dane, Ryland, Ashley, Emily, Cameron, Austin, Mason and Addyson.

Nephews, Bruce Cuttitta, Jimmy McCann, John Cuttitta Jr., nieces, Carol McGinley, Margaret Grausso and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.
