Joyce Boorse Retzler of Philadelphia, Pa. passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She was 70.
She was born in Philadelphia on September 23, 1955 to the late Thomas J. and Evelyn A. (Slemmer) Boorse. She lived most of her life in and around Bristol, Pa.
Joyce enjoyed partying with friends and family and was a voracious reader and loved reading and collecting books. Her love of books and learning resulted in her being a master of trivia and knowledge. She was almost impossible to beat in Trivial Pursuit and truly enjoyed a good game. Her love of books was only rivaled by her love of music. She enjoyed going to countless concerts and bars with friends to see and support her favorite musicians and bands. Known as a warm hearted people person, her very favorite pastime was spending time with her husband and her many abundant friends and her entire extended family. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be remembered for being accepting and loving towards everyone she encountered. Joyce was a loving wife to her husband Kenny and a beloved mother to her son Scott, a cherished sister to her siblings and a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews along with being a great friend to the countless number of people she loved.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Boorse Sr. and Evelyn A. Boorse, and her brother, Thomas J. Boorse, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Retzler, her son, Scott Vinci, and her siblings, Deborah Page, Linda Carson, Carolyn Boorse, Vincent Boorse, and Genevieve Boorse, her loving in-laws, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends.
Relatives and friends will be invited to attend a memorial party which will be hosted in the Spring of 2026. More information will be forthcoming as the plans come together to celebrate Joyce and her legacy. One of her greatest wishes was to have everyone gather for a big party to celebrate her love for each and every one of us who were lucky enough to have known and loved her.
