Juan Jose Mak

Juan Jose “J.J.” Mak, 68, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. A devoted husband, loving father, and faithful church member, Juan lived a life marked by generosity, gratitude, and unwavering love for his family.

Juan was born on June 24, 1957, in Havana, Cuba, to the late Jose Mak and Maria Chung Mak. At the age of 10, he immigrated to the United States with his family, beginning a new chapter rooted in gratitude for new opportunities, devotion to family, and deep faith. After graduating high school, Juan proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Following his military service, Juan began a 30+ year career with Medrad (formerly Medcross) as an MRI Technician, remaining until retirement. Guided by his faith, he cared for patients with warmth and humility.

Family was at the center of Juan’s life. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Mak; his daughter, Joellyn Mak; his son-in-law, Nicholas Kroll; and his sister, Josefina Mak Lee, and her husband, Dr. Kuo Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jesus Mak. Juan will be remembered for his kindness, his readiness to help anyone in need, and the way he showed up for his family—both immediate and extended. His faith and involvement in the church were an important part of his life, and he carried that faith with him to the end.

A memorial Mass for Juan will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 131 Ward St, Macon, GA 31204. The family invites all who knew and loved Juan to attend and celebrate his life.
