She brought people together through food and hospitality in a way that made everyone feel welcome and loved.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Juanita was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She attended Mass daily and found profound joy in worship. One of the most treasured moments of her spiritual life came on New Year's Day in 2000 when she attended Mass in Rome presided over by Pope John Paul II—a memory she held dear for the rest of her life.
Her creativity shone through in many ways—especially in the crafts she lovingly made for family celebrations. The Christmas ornaments she created are still displayed each year by those who treasure them as symbols of her enduring love. In later years, Juanita became an avid sports fan. Whether it was baseball season or football playoffs, she never missed a game played by her beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, or Rams.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband William Anthony Zaputil in 1997—a loss she bore with quiet resilience while continuing to nurture the family they built together.
She leaves behind four devoted children: Michael, John, Stephanie, and Theresa; seven beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jacob, Michael, TJ, Drew, Peter, and Aubrey; and two cherished great-grandchildren: Ariel and Liam.
