Judith “Judy” Wienchus, 85, of North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. Her heart was lifted by the love and thoughts sent by her brother, extended family, and many dear friends.
Born in Hammond, Indiana, Judy was the beloved daughter of Stephen and Rose Wienchus; devoted mother of Eric (Sandra) Wojciechowski and Lisa (Wojciechowski) Phoenix; cherished sister of Kenneth Wienchus; niece of Ronald (Virginia) Mamich, Anne (Charles) Hendricks, Mimi Mamich, Victor (Virginia) Wienchus, and Virginia (Venchus) Schneider; cousin of George, Allan, and David Hendricks; and aunt of Mark (Debbie) York.
A gifted artist and entrepreneur, Judy built a life around creativity and connection. She founded and operated several successful ventures, including a line of children’s room decorations, three video stores, personalized cartoon prints, a henna and face-painting business, and a collection of custom glassware featuring hand-painted portraits of people and pets. Watching her work was a joy—her steady hand and imaginative spirit brought beauty to everyday life.
What made Judy truly unforgettable was her unwavering love for family and friends. Compassionate and empathetic, she never hesitated to extend kindness, warmth, and encouragement to anyone in need. Her laughter—bright and contagious—could fill a room. Whether painting, playing cards, floating in the pool, or enjoying an afternoon at the casino, her zest for life was infectious. Above all, her children were her pride and joy, and the love they shared was immeasurable.
A Celebration of Life will be held in January in North Port, Florida.
