Jules E. Desautels, 95, passed peacefully under hospice care while surrounded by loved ones at his home in Columbia, CT on November 11, 2025. He was born December 21, 1929, in La Patrie, Quebec, to the late Leonard Desautels and Yvonne (Blais) Desautels. Jules immigrated to Willimantic, CT in 1946 at the age of 16. He was a member of a large family of seventeen children, including his twin sister Julienne Lisee.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he achieved the rank of Sergeant while serving with a Signal Battalion.
Jules married Noella (Lagasse), in 1958. He and his wife and owned a poultry farm in Brooklyn, CT for 12 years. During this time, they had five children, three daughters and two sons. He later became a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was employed with Brunalli Construction for 27 years and was proud of the contributions he made in the construction of highway bridges and overpasses throughout the state.
Jules was happiest when he was working in his gardens. He also loved shooting pool and playing cards with his children and grandchildren.
Jules is survived by, Noella, his wife of 67 years, his children Linda Danaher, (Edward), Ann Folan, Julie Swatt, (Jack), Marc Desautels, (Lou Ann), Leo Desautels, (Jennifer); beloved grand-children Amy, Sarah, Elise, Andrew, Nicholas, Allison, Adam, Jenna, Chase, Lily, Bridget, Brandon, and Justin; six great-grandsons. He also leaves surviving siblings Yolande Lisee, Julienne Lisee, Yvon Desautels and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Masonicare Home Hospice. Especially Lauren, his nurse, for her care and compassion. Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of life at the Franco-American Civic & Social Club, 116 Club Road, North Windham, CT on Sunday, December 14th, at 1:00 pm.
