Karen Meri Carper, age 78, of Naples, FL and Harwich Port, MA passed away October 28,2025. She was born January 31,1947 in Cleveland OH to John and Margaret Taliak. She graduated from Lincoln H.S. in Cleveland and then earned her B.A. from Hiram College and her M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University.
Karen was devoted to both her career and her many friends and family. She started her career as a social worker and then transitioned to the apparel industry, eventually leading a market research department. With her M.B.A she worked for two well-respected management consulting firms in Boston, achieving officer level and making real contributions to business reengineering. She also worked at executive positions in the advertising business. In the early 2000's she started her own company, MarketBasics Research which provided focus group and statistical analysis for products and marketing programs in many F500 companies. Her company success resulted from both the quality of the work and how much her clients enjoyed working with her,
Karen was very active in many social and volunteer organizations including hospital auxiliary, neighborhood association, president of the condo board, and even captain of her lady's tennis team. She also received great comfort from her church and prayer group. Starting in the late nineties, her social circle expanded greatly as she and her husband were recognized while walking their wonderful Wheaten Terriers - Annie, Fergus, and Riley. All of these social and business activities resulted in many long-term friendships in her hometowns, including Boston, Harwich Port, Concord MA, and Naples.
Her positive spirit, kindness and concern for others will always be remembered. Many times, she supported friends and family who faced difficult health or family problems with ongoing phone calls, email and small gifts. Even as she faced her own health challenges, she wanted her many caregivers to be happy.
Five and a half years prior to her passing she was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. Her situation worsened as she was subsequently burdened with several other serious health issues. Throughout her many days in the hospital, rehabilitation facilities and on-going chemotherapy she kept her smile and kind greetings for the medical staff, therapists, and caregivers. Thanks to her strong will, her husband's continual support, and caring medical staff, her journey greatly exceeded all expectations including many joyous days, such that her doctors considered her a true miracle.
Karen is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert Carper. She was laid to rest in Union Cemetery in her husband's hometown of Louisville, OH. Online condolences may be left for the family at http://www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com.
