Karen Ann Stephens, 68, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2025, in Houston. She was born on September 3, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to David and Dorothy Sturdy.

Karen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She married Kelly Dwayne Stephens on May 14, 1983, and together they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Kelly, and their three sons and their families:
Kelly David Stephens and his wife Amy Stephens of Folsom, California, and their children, Mason and Cambria;
William Arthur Stephens and his wife Peyton Stephens of Houston, Texas, and their sons Levi, Sawyer, and Grey;
Timothy Davis Stephens and his wife Shannon Stephens of Houston, Texas.

She is also survived by her father-in-law, Kelly Doyle Stephens, her brother- and sister-in-law, Mark and Annette Nielsen, and her nephews and niece, Erik Nielsen, and his wife, Normandie, David Holland and Kayleigh Holland. Karen is further survived by many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Dorothy Sturdy, her sister, Kathleen Holland and her mother-in-law, Vivian Stephens.

Karen earned her degree from the University of North Texas and carried her creative spirit throughout her life. She was an avid jewelry maker and a talented baker, often sharing her creations with loved ones. She found joy in hosting family gatherings, attending church, and cheering on her grandchildren at their activities. Those who knew Karen will remember her warm hospitality, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The service will be open to the public and livestreamed at https://tallowood.org/watch/ for those unable to attend in person. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Brookwood Community, an organization that held a special place in Karen’s heart.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family rejoices in knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior.
