Kathleen Joy Hermann, 77, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 6, 1948, in Chicago, Kathleen's life was defined by curiosity, compassion, and a steadfast dedication to helping others grow—both in the garden and in life. She attended the University of San Francisco before completing her bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois where she then continued and received her master's degree in plant pathology, a reflection of her lifelong love of learning and the natural world.
Kathleen poured her heart into raising her son, John Zachary Bradley (Zach), homeschooling him through 6th grade. She then shared her gift for teaching with the Baltimore City Public School System, where her patience, warmth, and belief in every child left a lasting mark on countless students.
Beyond her professional life, Kathleen was an avid gardener whose hands and heart nurtured beauty wherever she went. She gave generously of her time, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and offering her care and skills to better the lives of others.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph Desmond Bradley; her dog, Dory; her beloved son, Zach, his wife, Nina; and their children, Hunter and Finney. She is also survived by her brother, John Patrick Hermann. Kathleen's legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and the quiet strength that inspires those fortunate enough to have known her.
