Kathleen Ann (Waldron) Murphy, known affectionately as Kathy, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 14, 1945, in Houston, Texas, Kathy spent the majority of her life in Chicago, where she created a life centered around family, friends, resilience, and care.
Kathy was the beloved mother of Erin Murphy, William J. Murphy (Namiko), and Michael Murphy, and the cherished grandmother of Braeden, McKenna, and Liam Murphy. She was a devoted sister to Mary Ann (Waldron) Santucci and is now reunited in peace with her late brothers Bob, John (Jack), and Ron Waldron. Kathy was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Waldron.
Family was at the center of Kathy's world, and that family extended to her many friends. Through life's ups and downs, she remained deeply grateful for the love and support of those closest to her. Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family whenever possible.
Kathy was a force of nature—strong-willed and full of spirit—but those who knew her best understood her and her deep well of love. She never missed a holiday or birthday without sending a card, always finding small ways to show she cared.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, Kathy's family will host a celebration of her life around Thanksgiving weekend in the Chicago area. Details will be shared once plans are finalized.
Kathy's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
