Ken "Moose" Scheivert passed away October 27, 2025, in his home in The Villages, Florida. He left us peacefully in the arms of his loving family. Ken was born February 19, 1945, to Elsie (Thompson) and Louis Scheivert in Chester Pennsylvania.
Growing up in Rockdale, Aston, PA he attended St. Francis de Sales grade school and graduated from St. James Catholic High School in Chester where he was a renown athlete. He especially excelled in football and won many awards and accolades in the county.
After serving honorably in the US Army, Ken worked for the Sun Oil Refinery in Marcus Hook until retiring after 37 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 6613 where he served as Post Commander for several years. Ken also was a member of the Delco Anglers and Conservationist in Delaware County, PA where he volunteered to help raise trout for release in local fishing holes across Delaware County.
Ken loved fishing with his buddies. Whether on the banks of the "cricks" in Lenni and Rockdale or the shores of Cape Henlopen in Delaware or Lake Hartwell S.C. while visiting his sisters or a pond in The Villages, FL. Always striving to be "Top Hook", you could find him pole in one hand beer in the other.
Ken is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginny Talarico), son Ken Jr, daughter Regina, "Gina" Scheivert married to (Patrick Foley); sisters Rita (John) Wheeler, Patti (Hal) Moyer, Granddaughter Breeanna, great grandchildren Elliott Lee and Charlie Grace and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Ken was predeceased by his parents Elsie and Louis Scheivert, his brothers Michael and Vincent and his sister Betty Lou Dean.
Ken was a great guy with life-long friendships, a few of which were like brothers to him. He always had an interesting comment which made him more endearing and memorable. He is dearly missed.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul church at 5323 E. CR 462, Wildwood, FL. In lieu of flowers you are asked to donate to St James Alumni Association or the Disabled Veterans of America.
