On October 12, 2025, after a brave battle with prostate cancer and Parkinson’s disease, Kenneth A. McConkey passed away peacefully at his home. Kenny lived a full and vibrant life and, in his own words, “had more fun than anyone he knows”.
Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Everette and Mayo McConkey. Before retiring to South Carolina, he lived for many years in Waldorf, MD.
Ken was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, proudly serving aboard the USS Yorktown, and was the proud founder and owner of McConkey Insurance Agency. In keeping with his joyful spirit, Ken had many passions including being a licensed boat captain, a talented musician, skier, and a motorcycle enthusiast.
His spirit will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his daughters Stephanie Ingram (Robby Bolton) of Panama City Beach, FL and Kelly McConkey (Laurie Siebert) of Baltimore, MD; as well as five grandchildren Nick, Christian, Ethan, Hugo, and Eden. Ken is also remembered with affection by many cousins, with whom he shared enduring and close bonds, and many lasting friends across all stages of his life.
Private services to be held.
