Kenneth "Ken" Terry Westbrook, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025 at the age of 96. Embraced by the love of his wife and 6 children, Ken was at ease and comfortable until the end.
Ken was born on November 4, 1928 in Chincoteague, Virginia. He was the only child of Helen Bowden and Wilson Westbrook, who loved and raised him in Philadelphia, PA. Ken entered the US Army in 1945 and was a part of the Japanese Occupation Forces at the end of WW2. He served as an Russian analyst/translator for the ASA/NSA during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam era. While being stationed in Germany in the early 1960's, one of his other duties was managing the Army's entertainment clubs, booking musical acts.
Ken retired from the military honorably after 22 years and began a new career in Restaurant Management in Windham, NH, where they settled and raised a family. Ken's children have fond memories of his start with a Mr. Softee Ice Cream Truck. He eventually opened a successful chain of restaurants named Eataliano's, located throughout the coastal region including Portsmouth. Over time, Ken branched out into real estate, insurance and other business ventures until his full retirement. Ken met Jenya in 1994, and they were married that same year. Ken and Jenya resided in Dover, then Portsmouth, and were active members and caretakers of the First United Methodist Church. He stayed active and was an avid golfer and dedicated Red Sox Fan. Ken was a busy member of our community and regular at many local establishments and institutions.
Ken is survived by his wife, Jenya, his 6 children Tenley, Daniel, James, Merle, Angela, Anthony and their spouses. He was a grandfather of nine, and had ten great-grandchildren, who lived nearby and enjoyed their visits with "Grampy". He was an accomplished golfer, a devoted Red Sox fan, and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him during his long, full life. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church - 129 Miller Ave, Portsmouth, N.H.
