Kevin Michael Bown

Kevin Michael Bown, 63, of Kings Beach, California, passed away on April 24th, 2025.

Kevin was born February 23rd, 1962, in Chicago Illinois. He grew up in Hayward, California with his Father, Fred Stanley Bown Jr.; his Mother, Margaret Ann Costello; and his Older Brother, Fred Stanley Bown III.

Growing up, Kevin found his home away from home in the theatre. Throughout his time at Lorin Eden Elementary School, Rancho Arroyo Junior High, and Mt. Eden High School, he performed in countless plays; both at the school theatre and at various theatre companies. Kevin loved putting on a show, and his enthusiastic personality and sense of humor charmed audiences.

Kevin worked throughout high school and into college. He changed his major from Theatre and majored in Marketing at the California State University East Bay Campus.

Kevin began his career at the height of the shopping mall in 1981 as a Sales Associate at Macy's NewPark Mall located in Newark, California. He was later promoted to Service Manager before transferring to their San Francisco location where he worked as a Junior Assistant Buyer, Department Sales Manager and Senior Assistant Buyer.

Kevin worked as a Cast Member at The Disney Store and Chuck E. Cheese. He enjoyed traveling for work as a District Sales Manager for The Game Keeper and The Store of Knowledge. He also enjoyed being a Major Account Representative at Skagen Denmark and Elizabeth Arden.

Kevin moved to Reno with his wife Kelly, where he had an extremely successful career working as a Realtor at Prudential Nevada Realty and Dickson Real Estate. He brought an extensive knowledge of the marketplace, powerful negotiating skills, and innovative marketing plans to the table. His rate of repeat and referral clients was an impressive eighty percent.

Kevin later worked at Raleys Grocery Stores where he relished working with customers and creating relationships with everyone he interacted with. Kevin loved people, and throughout his career it became what made him successful. Working with others brought him joy.

Kevin's favorite place was Disneyland. Everyone who knew him knew that. He loved Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse, Main Street, Peter Pan's Flight, Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), and the Disney movie UP. Kevin was most happy running around Disneyland Park, wearing a poncho and riding the roller coaster in the rain - soaked but happy!

Kevin's greatest love was his daughter Katie. He loved being her dad, and they spent many years making memories while enjoying trips to Yosemite every summer and collecting Disney merchandise to decorate their home.

Kevin is preceded in death by his Mother, Margaret Ann Costello; his Favorite Cat, Natasha Bown; his Favorite Dog, Flower Daisy Seeds; and his soulmate, Chris Ashley. He is survived by his Daughter, Katie Alice Helpensill; his Niece, Amber Marie Bown; his Great-niece, Kalea Rogers; his Great-nephew, Dominic Rogers; his Father, Fred Stanley Bown Jr.; and his Brother, Fred Stanley Bown III.
