March 31, 1963 - October 6, 2025

Kevin Wayne Bushnell, 62, of Metamora, passed away peacefully at 10:34 p.m. on October 6, 2025, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by his loving family. He had been receiving compassionate hospice care for several weeks, lovingly supported by his wife of 36 years, Linda, and their family.

Born on March 31, 1963, in Peoria, Kevin was the son of Gary and Brenda Bushnell. He grew up in Peoria and graduated from Peoria High School. He met the love of his life, Linda, in August 1989, and they were married on June 22, 1991.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his stepdaughter, Marcy (Dave) Burdette; stepson, Ted (Kasi) Virgil; and grandchildren, Onyx, Mason, Lukas, and Max. He is also survived by his mother, Brenda; his brother, David; and his faithful dog, Hope. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary; aunts and uncles; and his cherished pets Bear, Reba, and Faith (dogs), and Rambo and Crystal (cats).

Kevin spent 14 years working at International Paper and later dedicated 23 years to the Peoria Journal Star, and was member of Teamsters Local 568M, retiring in 2019. Outside of work, he loved camping, family gatherings, gardening, playing his dad's guitar, and listening to country music. A lifelong fishing enthusiast, he also took great joy in motorcycle trips with his buddies.

Kevin was known for his quick wit, generous heart, and uncanny ability to fix just about anything. He brought humor to every situation and was always ready to lend a hand. His jokes and the playful tricks he loved to pull—especially on Linda—will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

A graveside service for Kevin will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at West Jersey Cemetery, located behind West Jersey United Methodist Church in Toulon, Illinois. Following the service, a lunch will be provided for all attendees.
All who knew and loved Kevin are warmly invited to attend, share memories, and celebrate his life.
