Kevin John Owen, 69, passed away on October 7, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on March 17, 1956, in Madelia, Minnesota, Kevin lived a life marked by dedication to his work, his faith, and his family.
Kevin was the son of Willis and Lenore Owen. He grew up in Madelia and attended Madelia Elementary and Madelia High School. He enjoyed participating in sports, especially football and track, and made many lifelong friends. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Rochester Community College in Rochester, Minnesota. From an early age, Kevin showed a strong sense of loyalty and compassion—qualities that would define much of his adult life.
As a young man, Kevin was confirmed as a follower of Jesus at Faith Lutheran Church. His faith remained an important part of his life throughout the years. In Arizona, he became part of the Sun Valley Community Church community, where he found fellowship and spiritual growth.
Kevin began his professional journey working as a youth counselor with the Boys Ranch shortly after high school. He had a heart for mentoring young men from difficult backgrounds—offering them guidance, encouragement, and a steady presence.
Later on in life, Kevin transitioned into the construction trades where he spent most of his career. He held various roles including punch list supervisor and maintenance technician. Known for his skills with tools and problem-solving mind, Kevin could remodel or repair nearly anything in a home. Whether it was fixing a leaky faucet or overseeing home renovations, he approached every task with diligence and pride.
Outside of work, Kevin had several passions that brought him joy. A lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings, he also embraced Arizona’s sports teams after moving west. He had a deep love for cars—especially classic models—and enjoyed tinkering with vehicles throughout his life. Among his favorites were his first car, a '64 Mercury Comet; a '68 Camaro; and his CJ5 Jeep Wrangler. He loved spending time with his family and was very proud of their work ethic and the desire to be good parents to their own children.
Kevin is lovingly remembered by his mother Lenore Owen; daughter Traci (34); son Steven (31), and Steven’s fiancée, Elizabeth ; grandchildren Mira, Nova, Asher, Skyler, Maggie, and Ivy; and sisters Stephanie, Suzanne, and Gina.
He was preceded in death by his father Willis Owen; sister Kristen Owen; niece Kjersten Jensen; and several beloved grandchildren who went to be with the Lord before birth. The family takes comfort in knowing that Kevin is now reunited with his loved ones in heaven.
Kevin’s legacy lives on through those who knew him—as a loyal friend; as a skilled craftsman who took pride in honest work; as a devoted father and grandfather whose love and faith in God was steadfast; and as a man of integrity whose quiet strength touched many lives.
Kevin's final request was to have his ashes spread in his hometown of Madelia where he spent his growing up years. He would also want everyone to know that when you find Jesus, you find a Savior, as well as hope, healing and a home for your soul. May his memory be a comfort to all who knew him.
