After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Kim McKenzie passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2025, with her loving husband by her side. Kim Ann Gatto was born July 9, 1970 in Staten Island, New York to Lou Gatto and Mary Jane (Esposito). She was the eldest of her siblings Michelle and Louis Gatto. Kim grew up in Andover Township NJ where she attended Newton High School. She married Michael McKenzie, whom she met in college, and together they built an amazing family having two wonderful children Jane and Evan, whom she adored and was proud of beyond words. Kim graduated with honors from Salisbury University and Saint Elizabeth University and for 30+ years served the community as a therapist counseling and helping many people and families. Kim lived a full life filled with fun. She vacationed many years with her family and close friends in Cape Cod Massachusetts and made many family trips to Disney with Mike and the kids. She hosted countless fun get-togethers at her beautiful home and truly enjoyed many dinners out and adventures with friends, including her life long friends Lori, Wendy and Sue. She is predeceased by her mother Mary Jane Gatto, her step-mother, Carol Azzariti, and her brother in law Jim McKenzie and other family members who are reuniting with her in happiness. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Michael McKenzie; her daughter Jane McKenzie and her son Evan McKenzie; her father Louis Gatto; siblings Michelle and Louis; best friends Lori Haberthur & Eric Stump; father in law Dan McKenzie; her family of brother / sister in laws and nieces and nephews and her dog Nikki Noodles, all whom she loved very much. She will be missed fiercely and remembered everyday. We are all eternally blessed to have had her in our lives and grateful for the many cherished memories. Close family and friends will be invited to a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center or your local animal shelter.
