Kimber Eugene Hone

Kimber Eugene Hone, 57, of Irving, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2025, after a courageous struggle with cirrhosis of the liver.
Kimber was born on November 15, 1967, in Sacramento, California, to Larry E. Hone and Sharen Rawlings Hone. He grew up in Sacramento and attended Frontier Elementary School and Foothill Junior and Senior High Schools. He was gifted with a deep love for music, which became one of the defining joys of his life. Kimber played several instruments, with guitar, drums, and cello among his favorites. Whether playing alone or in a band, he loved to share his music. His passion for sound, harmonies, and rhythm was unmistakable.
He loved being outdoors and especially loved being on the water. He lived on a boat on the Sacramento River for a time, and in his younger years was a very talented waterskiier — slalom, trick, and even barefoot. Camping trips and time in nature were some of his happiest moments. He also had a gift for gardening and cooking, which he used to bring family and friends together and share good food.
Kimber served in the U.S. Army Reserves and later built his career in inventory auditing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Qunxian “Carrie” Li; three children, Devin Miles Hone, Kendra Nicole Willes (Zack), and Nathan Eugene Hone; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Sheri Lee Hone Not Help Him (Jeffrey), Larry Jeff Hone (Becki), Kalvan Martell Hone, and Kelton Rawlings Hone (Zeba).
Kimber’s life was full of ups and downs, and he faced many challenges. Ultimately, his struggle with alcohol contributed to his passing. His family hopes that his story can be a reminder of the importance of compassion and forgiveness.
A memorial service will be held at 74 S. State Street, Preston, ID on November 15th, 2025 at 11:00 am. All family and friends are invited.
