Kirk Greene Barnett

Kirk Greene Barnett, 72, flew peacefully and bravely into Heaven on September 19th, 2025, at his residence in Winston-Salem, NC, surrounded by his loving family.

Kirk was born on February 26th, 1953, in Lenoir, North Carolina, to parents Mattie Greene and Raymond Barnett. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Barnett, with whom he shared 51 treasured years.

Kirk lived a life rooted in love, hard work, and quiet generosity. He worked as a carpenter within the triad for many years, as well as working in furniture and renovations alongside his wife, Joanne. He enjoyed visiting the coast, fishing or casting a net, and spending time with his family. Similar to the coastline he loved, he could be rugged and strong, but also deeply comforting. He gave freely of his time and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need.

His love and lessons will remain with all who knew him, especially his two children, Tracy Barnett and Joshua Barnett; his grandchildren, Hailey Smith, Blake Smith, Zack Barnett, and Zoey Barnett; his great-grandchild, River Johnson; his sister, Sandra Jones; and his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration for Kirk and his wife Joanne's lives will be held at a later date.
