Laken Wayne Nicholson

Laken Wayne Nicholson, age 12, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on October 23, 2025. Born on January 24, 2013, Laken brought joy, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew him.

Bright, mischievous, and quick-witted, Laken marched to the beat of his own drum and never cared what anyone thought. He shared a close, playful bond with his brothers, River and Rowan, and his sister, Mavis — teasing and tormenting each other in the way only siblings can.

He loved being outdoors, especially fishing, and had a special way of bringing warmth and laughter to everyone around him. Even in his passing, Laken continued to help others by donating his organs, giving the gift of life and hope to multiple families.

Laken was deeply loved by his parents, Rachel and Justin Nicholson; his brothers, River and Rowan; his sister, Mavis; his grandparents and great-grandparents; and his many aunts, uncles, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Pop Pop, Randy Flynn, his great uncle, Kenneth Lee Nelson, and others who lovingly welcomed him home.

A service to honor Laken's life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared once they are known. The family invites everyone to wear something colorful in honor of Laken's vibrant spirit.

Laken will forever be our hero, and his light will continue to guide us through our lives.
