In Loving Memory of Lars Lerup
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lars Lerup, a cherished husband, father, educator, and dear friend, who left us peacefully.
Lars was a man of great intellect, warmth, and generosity. His life was marked by a deep love for family, a passion for thoughtful conversation, and great strength of character that inspired those around him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom, and the joy he brought to others.
A distinguished figure in the field of architecture, Lars served as a Professor of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, and later as Dean of the School of Architecture at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He was a prolific author, having written eight books, and was widely recognized as an urbanist, whose work explored the intersections of architecture, urban theory, and the lived environment.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Eva, and their son, Darius. Lars also lovingly embraced Eva’s children, Kike and Cristina, as part of his family. He shared a close and enduring friendship with Mark, whose companionship brought comfort and joy throughout the years.
Lars’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
May he rest in peace.
