In Loving memory of Lawrence Edward Kirkwood

The family of Lawrence E. Kirkwood are saddened to announce his passing on Aug. 14th, 2025, at the age of 80. Larry was born 6/25/1945 to his parents Ed and Ruth Kirkwood in Michigan. They all moved and grew up, along with his 2 brothers Butch & Roger in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In 1961, Larry and his high school sweetheart (wife) moved to Southern California to find work and start their family. They had 3 kids before they divorced in 1975. Larry was a hard worker and committed to providing for his family while working for various companies before settling in the Moreno Valley School district where he retired from in 2005.
Larry remarried in 1991 to his still living wife Charlene Kirkwood and together they enjoyed 33 years together taking care of their house, hosting and entertaining many family gatherings, eating out and doing their favorite- cruising the world.
In Larry’s younger years he was an athlete/high school track star, a creative artist with beautiful drawings and sketches of flowers & creatures, and an on target “pool shooter” that enjoyed hanging with friends at the local bar. Larry also loved the pool & sun, enjoyed fixing up & selling vintage cars and often attending local garage sales, then enjoying breakfast afterwards with his kids!
Larry’s character was honest, strong-willed, loving and caring. He was a father that was concerned and always there to offer his guidance and support when needed. He was also not shy to give his honest opinion, his passion and willingness to have a real conversation was true and he wasn’t afraid to challenge you.
Larry is survived by his older brother Butch, Aunt Alice, wife Charlene, 3 children- Eddie, Suzette, Larry. Along with 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren!
Larry “Dad” will forever be missed, but in our hearts, the strength you instilled in us, will keep us going! Till we see you again- Rest in Peace, We Love You!
