Leonard Gardner

1962 - 2025

Leonard James "Lenny" Gardner, 63, passed away on September 29, 2025, in Douglasville, Georgia. Born on January 21, 1962, in Salinas, California, Lenny lived a life defined by deep devotion to his family, a tireless work ethic, and an infectious sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around him.

Lenny graduated from Buena Park High School and went on to build a remarkable career spanning over four decades in the commercial tire industry. As a Commercial Tire Manager at Southern Tire Mart, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike for his dedication and integrity. In addition to his long-standing professional role, Lenny was also the proud owner of Gardner Exterior Services, where he applied his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.

At the heart of Lenny’s life was his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vicki Ellen Gardner; daughter Lauren Ashley Webb and her husband Aaron Webb; son David Michael Towning and his wife Sydnee Towning; son Dylan James Gardner and his wife Kaitlin Hatmaker. He was a cherished grandfather to Caroline Hatmaker, Thomas Hatmaker, Eli Webb, and Jasmine Webb; and a proud great-grandfather to Gabriel Webb and Ezekiel Webb. Lenny also leaves behind his siblings: brother Dennis Gardner and sisters Debbie Vandenboom and Linda Crites.

He was preceded in death by his son Sonny Gardner; mother Dorothy Jean Gardner; and father Theodore James Gardner.

Lenny’s world revolved around his family. He was an amazing husband, father, dog dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and son—roles he embraced with unwavering love. His home was often filled with the aroma of new recipes he delighted in cooking for those he loved most. Holidays were especially meaningful to him as opportunities to gather everyone together around the table he so lovingly prepared.

A man of faith who worshipped as a Christian, Lenny found joy in life’s simple pleasures: gardening under the sun, watching Judge Judy with a grin on his face, playing board games with family members young and old, or spoiling his dogs with affection. Known for his playful spirit, he had a signature prank—telling strangers they had dropped their pockets—that never failed to elicit laughter. His practical jokes were legendary among those who knew him best.

Lenny’s smile lit up every room he entered. His laugh was contagious. His outlook on life—rooted in kindness, humor, and love—left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.

A celebration of Lenny’s life will be planned in Ava, Missouri in the spring.

May Leonard James "Lenny" Gardner’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter and love for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers we would like donations made to Traditions Hospice in Cartersville Ga or Douglas County Animal Shelter.
