Leslie Stafford Collinson

Ms. Leslie Collinson, age 76, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida, after a short illness. She was born on June 30, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Emrey Booth of Haddonfield, New Jersey.
Leslie graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School and the University of Maryland, and earned a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. A talented swimmer, she worked as a lifeguard while completing her graduate studies at Penn. After marrying, she devoted herself to raising her three beloved daughters, Whitney, Lauren and Hilary. She also shared her love of language as a Spanish teacher at the Severn School and as an instructor of English as a Second Language at Anne Arundel Community College.
Leslie lived in Annapolis from 1979 until 2012, when she moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. A lifelong golfer, she was a member of Dunes West Country Club. She loved entertaining and decorating for every occasion—especially Christmas and Halloween—and delighted in pranks, costumes, laughter, and holidays surrounded by family. She adored her dog, Isabella, and was deeply devoted to her grandchildren who called her “Glammie”.
Gifted with children, particularly babies, Leslie had a special ability to make them smile and laugh. She was known for her fabulous sense of style, her love of bright colors and Lilly dresses, and her ability to bring joy and fun to every occasion. She lived by her own rules and often said, “If you don’t ask, the answer is no.” Her confidence, advice, and humor are unforgettable.
In addition to her parents, Leslie was preceded in death by her sister, Alison Halloran. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Whitney LeRoux (Wayne) and Lauren Hanzel (Mike), both of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and Dr. Hilary Faust (David) of Madison, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her seven cherished grandchildren—Vivienne and Lachlan LeRoux; Patrick and Thomas Hanzel; and Alice, Sophie, and Teddy Aufhauser—as well as her brother, Robert E. Booth Jr.
Leslie’s daughters are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from those who knew her and have shared memories of her warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit. She was truly unforgettable and will always be remembered with love.
A Celebration of Life will be held in April 2026 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
