Lisa Ann Rawe (nee. Gauvry) passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a short illness and a 35 year journey bravely overcoming the limits of Multiple Sclerosis.
Lisa was born and raised in Camp Hill, PA. She attended Good Shepherd School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1976. Lisa moved shortly after high school to Georgia to be near the love of her life, Tom, as he attended Georgia Tech. The couple married in 1978 and moved to Gastonia, NC where they would spend the next 30 years building a loving family of 4. This time was joyful with their many trips to the NC mountains, local lakes, and Chincoteague Island in VA. The couple returned to Lisa’s adopted home of Northern Kentucky in 2008 where they lived the rest of their lives. In their retirement, Lisa pushed the couple to new adventures, with frequent trips to the mountains and the shore in Cape May.
Lisa always put concern for others ahead of her own. Even as she faced new debilitating challenges with Multiple Sclerosis, she was unstoppable and driven by her desire to take care of her family and community. In addition to her role as a loving mother to two sons, her life was marked by a deep commitment to service, spending countless hours volunteering for those who needed it most. This included weekly support of her favorite organizations in Gaston County over many years: Habitat for Humanity, where she ensured volunteers building homes were fed; Crisis Pregnancy Center, where she provided expectant mothers with access to supplies and medical services; and Queen of the Apostles Church, where she supported ministry and poverty programs. In Northern Kentucky, she continued with weekly tutoring at the Urban Education Center in Covington and the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center, in addition to logistical support of the Giving Fields. Whenever there was an opportunity for Lisa to love, support, and build up others, even from the confines of her wheelchair, she did it.
Lisa was preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Tom” in 2024, mother Eleanor Stepp in 2021, and daughter Catherine in 1983. She is survived by her sons Thomas Jr (Jenna) of Gastonia, NC and Craig (Geales) of Atlanta, GA; sister Christina Francis (Richard) of Hershey, PA; brother Steven Gauvry (Linda) of Mechanicsburg, PA; granddaughter Sara Rawe; and many in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who she loved dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Lisa’s home church of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cold Spring, KY on Saturday, November 15 at 12pm. Visitation with the family will precede at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Northern Kentucky (svdpnky.org), 2655 Crescent Springs Pike, Covington, KY 41017.
