Loran Dean Solee

Loran D. Solee, 76, of Eagle River, Alaska, died November 10, 2025, at his home.
A graduate of West Anchorage High School in 1968, Loran proudly served in the United States Air Force from September 1968 to April 1972, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he moved to Warren, Minnesota, where he met and married his wife, Verlette.
Loran pursued a career in construction, working on various residential and commercial projects across North Dakota, Arizona, and eventually Alaska. After a significant accident in 1980, he attended the University of Alaska-Anchorage, earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1987. Loran retired from his working career at Architects of Alaska as a Building Design Technician in 2017.
A highlight of Loran's life was building a house for his family, a project he worked on with the support of many friends and family members. He was known for his strong belief in family and hard work, his inventive spirit, and his willingness to help neighbors, friends, and family with their projects. Loran enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music, reading, and camping. He was the foundation of his family.
Loran is preceded in death by his brother Rudolph Solee III, his father Rudolph Solee II, his mother Marjorie Solee, and his sister Muriel Kiss.
He is survived by his wife, Verlette Solee; his daughter Tania and son-in-law Sean Missel; his sisters Del and Bob Carlson, Rose Solee, and Marlene Solee; his brother Michael and sister-in-law Lorena Solee; and many nieces and nephews.
Service Information
Family and friends will meet at the graveside at Fort Richardson National Cemetery on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
