Loreta Krutulis, universally known as one tough cookie, passed away at home on Tuesday morning, September 16th, surrounded by family, with open windows and music playing. Loreta's unwavering determination was focused on nurturing her family. Together with her husband Paul, she raised three lively boys into compassionate men, fostering an environment filled with humor and laughter. Always present at her boys' numerous activities, she never hesitated to let them hear her enthusiastic support. Loreta and Paul's strong partnership set a loving example for their sons' relationships, and they warmly welcomed their sons' partners into the family with open arms. Loreta, a lifelong learner and avid reader, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from DePaul University. She then pursued a Master's in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her distinguished career included roles as Director of Medical Education at Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she maintained a high standard as a teaching hospital, and Chief Administrative Officer for the American Board of Preventive Medicine, where she remained dedicated until her final days. Loreta additionally played a significant role in the lives of her niece and nephew, never failing to be an appreciated source for parenting wisdom. She was also deeply involved with her great-nieces and great-nephews, staying informed about their interests and activities, and uninhibitedly participating in family game nights. Loreta Krutulis (née Mikenas) was born on August 4, 1964, in Chicago to Anna (Mileris) and Bronius Mikenas. Due to their parents' work schedules, her older brother Algis often took loving care of her. Algis and Loreta shared a strong sibling bond, he was one of her best friends for over six decades. She will be deeply cherished and profoundly missed by her devoted husband of nearly 37 years, Paul, and their sons: Michael (with Angela), David (with Rita Walsh), and Teddy. Her memory will also be treasured by her brother Algis (with Dana), sister-in-law Rima (with Heidi Nordbrock), mother-in-law Joana, niece Andrea Mikenas (with Andy Jarasius), and nephew Justin Mikenas (with Jerri Genovese). Additionally, she leaves behind a loving group of great-nieces and great-nephews who will fondly remember her presence in their lives.
