Louis Dezsi, a dedicated craftsman and beloved family man, passed away on October 22, 2025, in Greencastle, Indiana, at the age of 87.
Born in 1938, in Gyula, Hungary, Louis began his life in a country rich with history and tradition. At 17 years old, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a life grounded in hard work, integrity, and devotion to his family. In time, he proudly became a U.S. citizen, an achievement that held deep meaning for him throughout his life.
A skilled tool and die maker by trade, Louis dedicated 35 years to Oxford Automotive before his retirement. His precision, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on everyone who worked beside him.
Louis shared 54 years of marriage with his wife, Carol Ann (Beimers) Dezsi, who preceded him in death. Together, they raised three children: Julie Ann Powers (Jeff), Louis Michael Dezsi (Monica), and Kathy Suzanne Stattner (Dennis).
His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren—Lindsey Weist, Kristopher Ottenbacher, Dustin Weist, Tyler Frye, Morgan Kernstein, McKenzie Dezsi, and Adam Dezsi—as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Julianna Polgar, and many nieces and relatives residing in Hungary.
Outside of work and family, Louis found great joy in motorcycle racing, a passion that perfectly reflected his adventurous spirit and love of mechanics.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Julianna (Balogh) Dezsi.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and stand as a lasting tribute to a life well lived.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Dezsi Ranch: 2158 E US Hwy 40, Greencastle, IN, 46135.
