Marcie Michelle Free passed away suddenly of natural causes October 23, 2025 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Born Mark Edward Free April 12, 1954, in South Bend Indiana, to Kenneth and Patricia Free, she was the second-born of six children.
Her creative spirit manifested itself in her wonderfully quirky sense of humor and gifted musical talents. From early on, she was drawn to rhythm, from teaching herself to play the drums in the basement to becoming the drum major of the marching band at Douglas MacArthur High School in Saginaw, Michigan.
After graduation from high school, she sang in popular cover bands, then left Saginaw to pursue her dreams of performing professionally and met with much success. She is remembered as the original lead singer of King Kobra, Signal and Unruly Child, where her soulful voice and soaring melodic range brought her fame in the melodic rock and AOR genres.
Marcie was predeceased in death by her parents and a brother, Martin Free, and is survived by her sisters, Kenna Zorn (David), Melany Free, brother Patrick Free (Nancy) and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Marcie will be greatly missed by her family, the music community and her many worldwide fans.
