It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret "Peggy" Michenzi announces her passing. Margaret "Peggy" Louise Michenzi (née Kramer), age 96, of Coraopolis, PA, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, as she had wished, and in the same manner she had provided for her mother and husband.

Our fabulous Matriarch lived and loved fully for 96 years; her life was filled with so many loving friends and family who adored and cherished her. Mom touched so many lives in such a positive way; she will leave many cavernous voids. Though these voids will be significant, the loving memories we have of her will fill these voids in time. Mom will forever be remembered as a high-ranking member of the Greatest Generation.

She was born January 22, 1929, in New Eagle, PA, to parents Theodore Matthew and Mary Elizabeth Kramer (née McCurdy). The second of four girls, she had an idyllic childhood in Coraopolis with her three sisters, the late Patricia Jordan, the late Mary Price, and Kathryn Rath. A graduate of Coraopolis High School and the Presbyterian School of Nursing, she married Alfred "Al" Michenzi on August 24, 1955, with whom she had four sons and built a complete, laughter-filled life.

A devoted wife and mother to her husband of 53 years, her children, her extended family, and to many cherished friendships brought her incredible joy. Outside of her family, she gave her time to her chosen profession and her community.

Peggy trained as a nurse and began her career at the Presbyterian School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1950. She went on to work at Pioneer Hospital, McGee Women's Hospital, Western Psych, Chicago Lying In, Pittsburgh College for Women (now Chatham University) as a School Nurse, Girl Scout Camp Blue Bay on Long Island as a camp nurse, private nursing in Sewickley, and as a home healthcare nurse at St. Francis Hospital. Many of her lifelong friendships grew from her nursing career. In addition, she studied at the University of Pittsburgh and was two courses shy of completing her degree before her marriage on August 24, 1955. She had no regrets and pursued her profession as a registered nurse with love and conviction.

Her tireless volunteer work includes serving as State President of the Pennsylvania Huguenot Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), holding every position, including Regent and Vice Regent, during her tenure at the Jacob Ferree Chapter, an organization she was devotedly passionate about. Through her work with the DAR, she became quite the family historian, and her passion for genealogy work took root. Outside of her volunteerism, she was a voracious reader, often having multiple books going at once. The last book she read was one she tried to skip a page or two in, but found so enthralling that she read every last word. The book, Eleanor, and Franklin: The Story of Their Relationship, based on Eleanor, which she finished just weeks before her passing (1014 pages). As well as her insatiable appetite for reading, she loved needlepoint and playing several mind-exercising games, such as Sudoku, Wordle, Connections, Keyword, Spelling Bee, jigsaw puzzles, and crosswords. These games, along with her friendships, kept her mind and soul vibrant to the end. We will always cherish the gift of having her with us until the final days, with such a wonderful mind. Her recall was beyond belief, and her amazing, insightful stories from all parts of her life will always fill our hearts.

The wanderlust path forged by our dearest mother and father, beginning with their three-month honeymoon through Europe in 1955 and then with beautiful family vacations, camping trips, and time spent in nature, has forged a trail that we have all woven into our lives—so many cherished and blessed lessons from such idyllic role models and loving parents.

Mom will be forever missed, loved, and remembered by her son, the late Theodore "Teddy" Michenzi, and his wife Carol Michenzi, granddaughter Anna Woodward, and great-grandchildren Logun Michenzi, Theodore Woodward, and Everett Woodward, son David Michenzi, Mark Michenzi, wife Barbara Michenzi, son Matthew Michenzi, sister Kathryn Rath, as well as her extended loving family of nieces, nephews, and so many dearly cherished friends.

A special thank you to her staff at AGH Wound Care and the many other AHN Network teams that couldn't have been more loving and caring over the past several years.
