Mark Harvey Stangler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 12, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Grafton, North Dakota on January 25, 1950, Mark’s life was defined by deep devotion to family, service to others, and an unwavering spirit of kindness.
Mark is survived by his wife of 49 years, Victoria Keller Stangler, whom he met through her sister Gayle Keller while attending St. John’s University in Minnesota. Their partnership was marked by love, laughter, and a shared commitment to family. Mark was the proud father of David (Rachel) Stangler, Maggie Stangler, Bill (Chelsea) Stangler, and Mike Stangler, and the cherished grandfather of Charlotte and Zachary Stangler.
He is also survived by his siblings: Bill (Kate) Stangler, Kevin (Sheila) Stangler, Maureen (Stephen) Skramstad, Sheila Burns (Duane) McDowell, Tom Stangler, Nancy (Joel) Vossen, Brian Stangler, Carol Stangler, Therese Bellinger, and Vicki Oslin. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Stangler and Claire Morriss Stangler.
Mark answered the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War, stationed in Mannheim, Germany with the U.S. Army. His sense of duty and generosity carried into his civilian life, where he built a career in insurance, always striving to help others feel secure and protected.
A devoted husband and father, Mark’s greatest joy was his family. He never missed a sporting event for his children, cheering them on with pride. Mark treasured long walks with his faithful yellow lab, Mary, and was known for his love of all sports—especially Minnesota teams—and his appreciation for music. An avid golfer, he found peace and pleasure on the fairways, often sharing stories with friends and family. He often took time to volunteer with various charitable organizations, like Habitat for Humanity and Feed My Starving Children.
Mark’s warmth, humor, and gentle guidance touched all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he supported and the enduring love he fostered in his family.
A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph of the Lakes Church in the Spring of 2026, with details to follow.
