Martin Benedict Schutzius, age 36, of Lockport, Illinois, passed away on October 17, 2025. Born on September 26, 1989, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Martin was the sixth child of John Raymond Schutzius and Mary Kathleen Lutz.
Martin is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rebekah, and their daughter, Moira Schutzius. He is also survived by his six brothers: John, Joseph, Matthew, Daniel, Andrew, and George; three sisters: Catherine, Carolyn, and Eleanor; and two stepsisters: Amanda and Chen. He was the cherished stepson of Ying Schutzius and a devoted uncle to James, Addison, Isaac, Lily, Sawyer, Noah, Adrian, Gabriel, and Luke.
Martin had a deep passion for animals and dedicated time to working with NAWS Animal Shelter. He also ran his own cat-sitting business, Cat-Napped Sitters, through which he shared his gentle care and compassion with countless pet owners and their furry companions.
Above all, Martin was a loving husband and father, and a loyal friend. He held a profound love for his family and found great joy in writing poetry for those closest to him, especially his wife and daughter. His kind spirit, creativity, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones leave a lasting legacy that will be deeply cherished.
A celebration of Martin’s life will be held on November 2, 2025, with details regarding the location to be announced soon.
Martin will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
