Mary-Alice Branzetti, age 73, of Tewksbury, MA, passed away peacefully in hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Mary-Alice (Mary or M.A. as she was called by friends) grew up in Stoneham and Wilmington, MA, graduating from Wilmington High School in 1970. She would go to college at the University of Maine in Farmington, where she would meet lifelong friends, major in Home Economics Education, join the Phi Nu Omega sorority, and generally just enjoy being a “70’s girl.” After college and some traveling, she settled down and started a family in Windham, NH, where she would stay for 17 years. She loved being part of a community in her Windham neighborhood, served on the board of the Nesmith Library, took part in the PTA, and became known for her homemaking and interior decorating prowess.

Mary had an empathetic nature and always wanted to help others through their hard times and find ways to spread joy. She had a rich sense of humor, and her style was warm, direct, and honest. One of her favorite ways to spread joy was with food. She spent years working at places like Gordon College, Fairview Nursing Home, and Phillips Academy Andover in the catering and dietary needs departments and mentored many colleagues on her team. She always made sure the food she was in charge of providing was healthy and delicious. At home, she had many “under-half-hour” recipes long before the days of social media.

During her years in retirement, she lived in North Reading and Tewksbury, MA, and was always prepared to decorate for the holidays or host a dinner party. She enjoyed Patriot Football Sundays and watching the Boston Celtics, sometimes with her loyal companion, Mark.

She loved the music of Abba, Elton John, Jesse Colin Young, and Carole King. In the summertime or on vacation, you could find Mary at the beach. Whether it was family weekends on Cape Cod, visiting friends in Maine, yearly trips to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, and even a Christmas vacation in St. Croix, she truly believed in the healing powers of being in the sun and a refreshing swim in the ocean. Also, with family and friends, she travelled to many of her favorite places— Sedona, AZ, Hawaii, Portugal, Paris, and Italy. Her family and friends were most important in her life, and she lived her life loving all dearly.

Mary-Alice is survived by her children, Joshua Aufiero (Haverhill, MA), and Zachary Aufiero (Auburndale, MA); her three siblings, Joseph Branzetti and his wife, Pauline Branzetti (Andover, MA), Lisa Branzetti (Washington, DC), Paul Branzetti and his wife, Karina Branzetti (Walpole, MA); her nieces and nephews, Nicholas Branzetti and his wife, Jacquelyn White (North Andover, MA), Mark Branzetti and his wife, Amanda Weldin (Exeter, NH), Isabella and Hendrik Branzetti (Walpole, MA), and her great nieces, Ella and Ava Branzetti (North Andover, MA), and Birdie Branzetti (Exeter, NH).
