Mary Ann Unruh

Our beloved Mary Ann Unruh passed away on September 26, 2025 in Cumming, Georgia at 90 years old surrounded by her two daughters, Carla Linneman and Telsa Unruh. She is also survived by her cherished grandsons, William and Michael Linneman. Mary Ann's long battle with lung cancer is now over, having fought with resilience, strength, and dignity.

Mary Ann was born on July 15, 1935 in Great Bend, Kansas to Joseph Matthew Hall and Anna Loretto Strobl. She was raised in Seward, Kansas with siblings, Dorothy Hoss and Frank Hall. After graduating from St. Mary of the Plains High School in Dodge City, she attended the Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend, Kansas. Upon graduating, Mary Ann dedicated herself to the service of others as a registered nurse, working in hospitals in Kansas, Connecticut, and California.

On June 6, 1959, Mary Ann married Verlyn "Chop" Ralph Unruh in California, where they lived together for over 48 years. Mary Ann was a dedicated mother, spending time at the St. Joan of Arc School serving as a room mother, nurse, and chaperoning field trips. Mary Ann also devoted her time to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She participated as a member of the Young Married Couples Group, organized the annual St. Joan of Arc boutique sale, and even became an honorary member of the St. Joan of Arc "50+ Club" before the age of 50.

Mary Ann's passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. Visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 16 from 3:30 to 7:00 pm at Holy Cross Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, October 17 at Holy Cross Mortuary Chapel and Cemetery followed by the interment.
