Mary Zemansky, age 95, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away on November 13, 2025. Born on September 2, 1930, Mary was known for her impeccable fashion sense, culinary skills, and witty charm.
Mary dedicated over five decades of her career in cosmetology, where she spent the majority of it at Anthony Rosa Hair Design. The salon was more than a place of business; it was a haven where she nurtured both friendships and hairstyles. Her commitment to her craft kept her at the forefront of beauty trends, and she maintained her beautician license into her 90s!
Outside of her professional life, Mary was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs (Let's Go Cubbies!) and an avid watcher of true crime shows. Her culinary talents were unmatched, making her the unrivaled chef in her family and circle of friends. The table was always full and Mary never let a plate sit empty.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Burton J. Zemansky and cherished daughter of the late George and Jean nee Livas Kitsos. She was preceded in death by her siblings, John, Gus (Elaine), Helen (Arthur), and Toula. Mary's legacy continues through her daughters, Paula Cacioppo and Elana (Anthony) Darrus, and her grandchildren, Anthony Burton, Athina (Leonard), and Sophia. She was also a caring sister-in-law to Meryl (late Sydney) nee Zemansky Brodsky and a loving aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Mary's life was marked by her caring nature, her creative spirit, and her enduring love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary passed in her home surrounded by family. She wished to have no services and for her loved ones to enjoy a Cubs game in her honor.
