Matthew Leung, of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 29.
Matt will be remembered as a loyal and utmost generous friend, someone who always showed up for the people he loved. Whether it was a casual gathering or a road trip adventure, Matt was there, windows down, "I Remember" by Deadmau5 and Kascade playing and a smile on his face.
He had a natural gift for hosting and cooking, and found his greatest joy in bringing people together over meals. Always experimenting in his food, friends will never forget the evenings when he prepared full ducks, sous-vide experiments, Asian fusion Italian or jalapeño stuffed burgers. Cooking was Matt's love language, a passion he traced back to his grandmother, whose spirit lived on in the care he put into every meal.
He loved taking a pensive fishing day, was the absolute car enthusiast, and pure romantic for baseball, especially the Yankees. He was endlessly curious, generous with his time, and happiest when sharing what he knew with others.
Matt studied at Boston University, majoring in Finance and Accounting with a minor in Economics. He graduated in 2018 at the top of his class, earning summa cum laude latin honors. Matt was actively involved in campus life, serving as a Teaching Assistant for a Corporate Finance course and also serving on the leadership team of the Finance & Investment Club. His leadership presence and in-depth knowledge enabled him to offer valuable mentorship to countless students who valued his insights and feedback. Most importantly, he was a great friend to many students across campus and left a lasting mark with anyone he crossed paths with.
Professionally, Matt found tremendous pride in working for the boutique investment advisory firm, Timber Creek Capital Management, where he most recently held the title of Associate Director. Matt was instrumental in researching and recommending investments for client portfolios, playing an integral role in delivering strong investment performance during his tenure. He understood the nuances of the field to a degree few ever achieve, and he appreciated having ownership over his work. Matt's colleagues and clients are immensely grateful for their time spent with him, especially the personal moments: lunches in the conference room, countless dinners, work travel with colleagues, Celtics games and fishing trips, are some of their favorite memories they cherish.
He took great pride in his work, understanding the nuance of the field and the ownership it gave him knowing he was able to create his own success. His colleagues appreciated the impact he made both to the firm and their personal lives, which included fishing trips and countless meals shared together.
Matt is survived by his mother, Margarita Sang, his father, Daniel Leung, his sister, Amanda Leung, and many other family members and friends who loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed by his furry friends, including Matcha and Roscoe. His presence in their lives was a gift, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and joy.
