Michael Skerry

1961 - 2025

Michael John Skerry, 64, passed away on October 3, 2025, in Marlborough, Massachusetts, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 29, 1961, in Lynn, Massachusetts, he was raised in Stoneham and attended Stoneham public schools before continuing his education at St. Anselm's College. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University, where he developed a deep admiration for Jesuit traditions that would shape his values throughout life.

Michael built a distinguished career in finance and real estate. He worked for many years at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike. As a certified real estate appraiser, investor, and financial investment advisor, he generously shared his knowledge with others. Later in life, he embraced his creative side as both a poet and an artist.

A devout Catholic, Michael drew strength from his faith. The Jesuit teachings he cherished—emphasizing service to others and intellectual rigor—guided him personally and professionally. He found peace in nature and enjoyed camping under open skies. Animals and small children were naturally drawn to him. As a young boy, he once saved his siblings from a house fire-an early testament to his protective spirit.

Michael was an avid sports fan with a lifelong passion for hockey and baseball. A loyal supporter of all Boston teams, he followed them with enthusiasm and pride.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Beth and Michael Patrick; his cherished sister Mary Beth Haake and her husband Mike and their family of Texas; sister Maureen Beaton and her family of Stoneham; and brother Mark and his family of Minnesota. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Rita (Lehan) Skerry of Stoneham. He will be deeply missed by his dear friend and companion Jenny Kelly of Rockport, Massachusetts.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
