Michael Francis Snowa

Michael Francis Snowa was born August 17, 1953 and passed away peacefully at home in Richmond, Virginia on October 1, 2025, at the age of 72. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Lucille Leber and Otis “Edward” Snowa, Sr. of Richmond. He is survived by his three children, Kate Elizabeth Snowa (David), Kelley Snowa Fottrell (Matt), and Taylor Michael Snowa; his grandchildren, Kaley Southall, Collin Bradley, and Wyatt Southall; his two siblings, many nieces and nephews, and some chosen family.

Michael served his country in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of CTI3 before being honorably discharged. Through his naval training, he cultivated linguistic skills and performed duty abroad. The majority of Michael’s career was spent in the finance industry. He had a head for business, and he worked his way up to an executive position with a major regional banking company.

His family meant the world to Michael. He was a proud Dad. And once he became “Grandpa,” he cared a great deal about being present to support his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He was extremely active in helping to raise them. In life, he loved music, woodworking, landscaping and gardening, grilling and cooking, family meals, spending time at the beach, and the companionship of man’s best friend. Michael was a devout, life long, Washington football fan. He also enjoyed watching, playing and coaching basketball.

Michael was a member of the Episcopal Church. His faith and community guided him through many of life’s ups and downs. In his later years, Michael displayed great strength, rebounding time and time again from mounting health conditions. He fought hard to stay here on this earth with his family, and his daughters proudly assisted his care. May he now rest in peace. He will be deeply missed and loved forever.

Michael's funeral service will be on Saturday, October 18th, 2:00 pm at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 10627 Patterson Ave. Richmond, VA 23238 and a celebration of his life will be held immediately following the funeral. Details will be provided in person after the service.
