Miles David Kliewer, of Clarkdale Az, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, craftsmanship, and unwavering love. Born on May 29, 1961, in Santa Ana Ca to Thomas Kliewer and Susan Osterman Kliewer, Miles's life was marked by hard work, genuine kindness, and true love for the great outdoors.
In 1969, the Kliewer family moved to Sedona Az. In the years following, he spent many of his teen years in Marble Canyon where his parents operated the trading post that became a cornerstone of their community. There, young Miles learned the value of honest work, while cooking in the café and pumping gas. After attending high school in Page Az, he moved back to Sedona, where he honed his skills as a mason and a finish carpenter, eventually being known for his meticulous craftsmanship and dedicated to his trade.
Miles is survived by his partner of 34 years, Michelle Dermo, with whom he built a life filled with laughter, shared adventures, and deep companionship. Their relationship was a testament to true partnership- weathering life's storms together while celebrating many joys. He was a beloved son to Susan (Jeff) Dolan, devoted father to Heather (Jerad) Schlegel and Ian Kliewer, a loving grandfather to Daxton and Macklin Schlegel, and a cherished brother to Elizabeth (Mike) Boss and Sam (Suzanne) Dolan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever treasure his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Kliewer, brother Thomas Mathew Kliewer, both sets of grandparents, as well as beloved aunts and uncles.
Miles was a man who lived for the outdoors. He could often be found casting a line at Lees Ferry with Michelle by his side. Shed hunting was one of his greatest passions—he would spend countless hours walking through the woods, searching for that perfect antler. The thrill of discovery and the peace of the wilderness brought him immense joy. Whether it was hiking, fishing, cheering on his favorite sports teams, or just listening to music, Miles embraced every moment with enthusiasm.
Miles Kliewer's life was a journey measured not in destinations, but in the joy of the ride itself. He leaves behind countless family members, friends, and acquaintances whose lives were brightened by his presence, his humor, and his generous heart. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived—one that truly embodied his nick name "Miles of Smiles." May we all carry forward his spirit of adventure, his love of simple pleasures, and his unwavering ability to find joy in every trail he traveled.
Rest easy, Miles. Your miles have brought smiles to so many, and your memory will continue to light our way.
