Molly Queen Ruhl passed away peacefully on the morning of September 24th, 2025 at the age of ninety-six.
Molly married Alexander Ruhl and together they had four sons - Stephen, Mark, Alexander and James, Molly also had six grandchildren - Renee, Natalie, Shanna, James, Jessica and Chase. Molly was blessed with seven great-grandchildren - Aliyah, Giovanni, Anthony, Leonardo, Miles, Wells, and Kerry. She was pre-deceased by her husband, sons Stephen and Mark and granddaughter Renee.
Molly was born in Kent's Store Virginia, but located with her family to Bethesda, Maryland early on in life. She attended Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and Montgomery College.
Molly worked hard to ensure the well being of her family. During her life's journey, Molly eventually became the secretary for the Administrative Judge John Mitchell, of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. She served in that position for nineteen years until she was sworn in as the interim Clerk of the Court in 1992. At that time, Molly oversaw 178 employees and managed over 33,000 cases through the court. She was elected Clerk of the Court on November 8th, 1994 and was re-elected twice more and served for twelve years until retiring at the age of seventy-eight.
Molly always gave selflessly to others. She became involved in the Democratic Central Committee with a focus on Montgomery County, Maryland politics. This activity, as well as others, continued throughout her life. In retirement, Molly volunteered her time to assist and care for local seniors through the "Chevy Chase at Home" organization.
The Ruhl family has scheduled a "Life Celebration" for Molly to be held at Noon on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church located at 9601 Cedar Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
