Murray Z. Stevens

1934 - 2025

Murray Z. Stevens of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Riverwoods, Illinois, passed away peacefully October 1, 2025. He was the son of the late Helen Hiller and Benjamin Slutsky, and the beloved husband of the late Sally Stevens (nee Price).
Murray proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Europe during the Korean War.

Following his service, he became the owner of Kaplan Salvage Company in Chicago, where he worked for many years. He and his wife, Sally, shared a love of raising champion greyhounds, and Murray was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

An avid sports enthusiast and collector of classic cars, Murray later retired to Las Vegas, where he enjoyed his skill at the game of craps. He was a published author on the subject and took pride in sharing his knowledge with others.

Murray is survived by his children Barry Stevens (Joan), Julie Stevens (John Ortbal), Lisa Maclean (Bill), and Stephanie Domenitz; grandchildren Dustin (Lauren),
Jordan (Emily), Brett (Ray), Richard, Max (Sarah), Ian, and Zach; and great-grandchildren Hattie, Asher, and Leighton.
He had a lifelong love of music, both as a listener and a singer.
He will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and devotion to his family.
